Trying to love this. One of my all-time favorite films (currently reading a book on the making/importance of the film, which is just making me want to rewatch it for the umpteenth time), but I just can't get down with the concept and composition.
I dig it. I like the colors on the variant better but would take either. I stop short at saying it's the definitive print for the film, lacking Jake, but it's as good as I have seen so far. Hopefully I can snag one.
When I'm done ranting about elite power that rules the planet under a totalitarian government that uses the media to keep people stupid, my throat gets parched. That's why I drink Orange Drink. - BH
I think I’d like it better if the mirror wasn’t there?
Two posters in one doesn’t work for me, and I like the background image better I guess.
Actually really like the background shot.
Dont remember the film, guessing it’s the Sepulveda Basin? Lived a couple blocks away in the 70’s.
The mirror shot reminds me of the Halloween Print.

I think the narrative focus here is the contrast of the idyllic neighbourhoods, shown in the rearview mirror of Jake’s watchful eye, representing the corrupt and powerful who are sabotaging the baron landscape for their own gain. Then there is Evelyn, just a mysterious faceless and disposable victim literally at the centre of it all.
I’ll admit the composition doesn’t immediately grab me but there is so much depth and thought in this.
Also, this is perhaps a little on the nose (Chinatown pun intended) but anyone else think the angle of the rearview mirror almost resembles a magnifying glass?
