so the artist editions are different than the show editions?

that can't be true across the board
Doubtful. Slater is probably the only one who cares with his “fancy” printing. His probably is the only one that would benefit from more colors, imo.

This is NOT good for the hobby.

LOL. This hobby jumped the shark years ago.

The 10-layer artist print is fantastic, with silver and gold metallic inks. Wish I hadn’t cancelled my order of the CMYK show edition so I could compare.

Sorry Mike… you can’t sugar coat this.
This looks like the new normal.
Every Cure poster thus far has a reprint except one?
Probably just waiting until the 1st printing finally sells out.
The enormous 1st edition wasn’t enough… there’s more money to be milked.
I like money.
But I would decline.
Huge cure fan so this is some funny stuff…

Money to be milked? It’s a $30 screenprint. Wow they must be rolling around in all that cash lollll. Damn you Todd Slater for allowing this to happen to the hobby maaaaaan.

The print must cost at least half the $30 (idk what the cost it is just a guess). Sounds like more of a hassle for them than anything. It’s pretty obvious they’re doing it for fans who didn’t get to buy one because the merch lines are a mile long or someone has other things to do than watch thecure.com all day waiting for the random drops. This is the same band selling $25 t-shirts, $25 lawn seats, giving people refunds and fighting Ticketmaster.

I think this is a great idea, I hope all bands take notice of King Robert and what he’s doing for tickets and merch. What a ridiculous thread.
Derrrrrp.
Anyone else want to explain to this 2022 EB noob how limited edition screen prints work?
And math?
When you print 5000 posters instead of a normal amount, the $30 price tag doesn’t meanshitt.
My God. I feel like I need crayons.

You want to give the fans a break fine.
All for it. Tickets and shirts…
To think this is great for this community and all bands should adopt this as a business model is the the most embarrassing comment I’ve read on here since the jackass on the Fairey thread back in 2009 or so…
The d bag that explains how climate change was BS.
“ Yay!! Second editions are awesome! “
Welcome to EB.

The worst thing is The Cure had what, 3-4 decent prints in their entire career?
And then this?
If there is a bright side it would be the variation and the price.
No one has seen anything like this…
I mean they are taking money before thousands of these are even printed.
Making up for 45 years of zero art I guess.
Been on board since the Ponography release… wish’s there were more prints.
Almost ended up like Fleetwood Mac or Springsteen … when they’re gone, no art left behind.
Yup.. made up for lost time.
But 5000 posters for a single show is mental.

Was hoping for another Malleus.
Then I thought about it.
It would take them 4 months to finish them.

You may, because 1150 > 5000. Where are you getting 5000?

The CMYK show edition was limited to 1150. The 10-color AP was limited to 200. The second edition is a 4-color blue variant. There is no “second edition” of the yellow, unless you count Etsy bootleggers.

The artist edition is alright. A few pics:

Paper is like Sputa’s gold shimmer or whatever the gnome geeks call it.

One comment is I was definitely looking for more depth and texture that Todd is very good at, but this one doesn’t have any.

I am going to throw it in a frame.
