I rank the catalytic converter convo as slightly more interesting than the print.
Is this the start to a "feels" series?
Wanda: I can't stand people. I hate them. Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

One more reason why I plan to buy an electric car... no need for catalytic converters or thousands of other parts. I do feel kind of bad for all of the part companies making this stuff though. For sure there will be a long overlap but eventually these parts will be vintage.

Would the insurance company pay for it? What’s the discount one gets on their premiums if one has this installed?

Pretty crazy that people have to do it in order to keep a piece of the exhaust system intact on their vehicle.

So you are saying they should hold on to the ones they take off for a few years before flipping them?

I’ve got the CatClamp that matt69 posted. $350 installed. No discount on insurance. Though State Farm ponied up nearly $3000 for the cat replacement.

I guess the thread went off on a tangent. Maybe a mod could move it to automotive.🚗

Interesting. Thanks, fallstaff. I, for some reason, imagined an actual fabricated cage welded to the frame, etc. Lol. Mad Max style.

One would think at least the premiums would be at a small discount since you are minimizing the risk of the next $1,500 payout. Also, if they paid for one of these devices after the first time, they would save about $1,150 (probably more because they would get one installed for less at a shop of their choosing). Weird that there is no discount if this type of theft is fairly common. They’ll probably just jack up the premiums instead though.

I heard about it some. Read an article or two on the news too. A friend of a friend got one stolen a few years ago.

Also, I guess mods could move the cat and palladium discussion to random thread or something?
