Does anyone know what the kana in this piece means? It looks like the top kana might be ア (A in Katakana), but I can't make out what the bottom kana is.

Wow that cupla has the most intricate details on it. Reminds me of all the old barns that are deteriorating here in Mn.

I love that early study. It's interesting to see that the piece started out with water and another animal, hence the name "The Ark." I also love the multiple arrows with string either anchoring the ark or holding it back.
