"Variant Edition" is green with Chicago dates on it. Green seems apropos...talk about a money grab and a fugly one at that.

Yeah. This print is drymounting awesome as-is. No need for a variant.

Have him sign it somewhere else. I had a signed edition and it was literally on the edge so that any frame or mat would cover it. I would have floated it, but it also came with an edge ding that would have framed out, but then the sig would also have been framed out. And I found myself wondering why I paid $200 for a sig that I wouldn't be able to see. Had to return it as they had no leftover replacemen copies. Super nice and friendly folks, and great customer service.

Good points. Artists don't necessarily think like customers.bryndavies wrote:... I had a signed edition and it was literally on the edge so that any frame or mat would cover it... I found myself wondering why I paid $200 for a sig that I wouldn't be able to see...
I always defer to someone who's wearing a beater, regardless of what else he's wearing.

The whole idea of paying more for a signature on a $50 or $100 gig poster with a massive run is just silly to me. I want my originals signed, and any print that is worth enough so that bootlegs become an issue; other than that I couldn't care less.

Or printers, maybe. There not much room in the margins of this print. Plus, the sig was in pencil, and you could hardly see it; only from certain angles. It did have a cool R embossing, but with the lack of sig display capabilities and ding/dent, not worth th extra expense. I'll frame my show edition. Great drymounting print/image though.

I agree that paying a lot more is silly. But I find the signature does make it more valuable and collectable to me. It differentiates it from the massive run. For me, the bigger the run, almost the more I want a signed copy to stand out from the crowd. 1/2000 is more rare than 1/200. But I wish things like a sig didn't mean that much to me, then I wouldn't have gotten into this "collect em all" spusta madness I've found myself in this summer.
