When you have young 'uns who love bugs.....Cicadas are the BEST!!!
Totally freaky and yet absolutely harmless.
Pick 'em up and toss them into the air and they sound-off and fly away.
And their casing shells are cool too.
When I was a kid, my grandpa used to scare the piss out of me with those when he put them on my shirt. My kids don't seem to be phased at all. They love them!
But I do remember that 17 year brood in Ohio back in the late 1980s. Pretty wicked and bordered on plague-like.
I ordered one of these prints today. Had to have one!
