Need advice restoring flat file wood cabinet project
Hello. I just purchased this flat file cabinet and i was wondering if any of you know how to properly restore furniture? I have a brief idea of how to do it. Sand with 150 grit sand paper or something in that vicinity Use a lightly damp cloth to remove saw dust Buy a stain product for wood(Unsure if...

Re: My New Flat File Cabinet
Damn... I'd drive a god deal further than 1.5 for something like that model. I could weasel that into the main living space of the house even... It needs just a little work but for the most part it was hardly used. It has stains on top of the lid. i was thinking of sanding it and staining it. Not t...

Re: My New Flat File Cabinet
That's a great deal man. What did you search for on CL to find it ? I searched a couple of things..........flat file, lateral cabinet, and flat file cabinet for the most part. I would also select to search under all for sale and business. It was a fresh listing. It was just posted and i called righ...

My New Flat File Cabinet
Just picked up a flat file cabinet that i saw on craigslist. I couldnt be happier. It was an 1 1/2 hour drive but worth it. Especially for the price $150 i couldnt turn it down. It needs a lil love like maybe some polish but overall it in good shape. It comes apart into 5 parts. Lid, shelf, 2 flat f...

Re: Pimp My Flat File - Mayline to Streamline
That seems very expensive for a flat file with, really, only three usable drawers. You could obviously use the top two drawers for packing supplies or other random things, but that really seems expensive at almost $500. Unless there's some personal attachment to it, I would look elsewhere. You can ...

Re: Pimp My Flat File - Mayline to Streamline
If the two top drawers can fit 18 by 24s then I would consider. Especially if the lock works. Craigslist always has flatfiles on it. Mine is a Foster 25 drawer - got for $150. The Mayline has some nostalgia so maybe 480 ain't too bad. Good idea. Let me find out if they are 18 x 24. i doubt it though.

The thing i like about it is that its made of wood. Its in decent condition as well. You dont see too many of these around. Here are the specs.....
