Who controls the merch decisions varies from band to band and time to time. Most bands sign with a merch company that handles other bands as well. {Signatures, Giant, etc.], They pay a sometimes HUGE upfront fee to be the exclusive licensor for a perios of years. {I think that Hammer got a 5M advanc...

Now for more contradictions. John Howard could have been huge, but I was not willing to do it. {It takes about one hundred thousand in losses to 'break' an artist--at least that is what it cost for Kozik, Forbes, etc. ]. With posters, artists do not 'sign' with a gallery--it is fmore free-form than ...

Good point. I have come to know Bill {Sagan} over the past couple of years. Here is my answer: He is in an awkward position. First their was Ben, then myself and now Bill . I told him one of the first times we met that, no matter what he did, he would be hated. It's part and parcel with being the ? ...

And more: what was presented in that paper only scratched the surface of what they did. And, as I've said before, I could very well get sued for saying anything more. I do have two document boxes from the arminski/cushway/artrock versus Phish lawsuit. Have toyed with the idea of putting it all on li...

Oh, and one more thing. I do think that a lot of what Pollack has done is good. Did you know he has no part in their copyrights? That means nothing put away for later in life...as a way to make money. Maybe Phish needs the money more? Phish. Grateful Dead Lite, Kids who weren't around for the 'real'...

Some people say I can be too sure of myself and even cocky. About things I know I think this can be the case. Phish graphics for the most part suck. As do muchof the earlies Pearl Jam. The reason for this is simple: the bands or their managers most likely are control freaks and do not have s strong ...

The reasons GDP/GDM outsourced their stuff is a bit more complicated. Yes, they did have a lot of 'legacy' types, etc. But that's the way they were......but now it's time for them to downscale.... The neckties were a very lucrative deal--I thought I heard that Garcia got a 2M advance/guarantee..... ...

I only have aminute here;;; Phish is one of the most difficult , unreasonable, power hungry bands I ever dealt with. They tried totalk Bert [ABrothers] but he wouldn't go for it. DMB got dragged into it by Phish--- . They also went after mom and pop record stores that had only purchased two or three...

Interesting point. I think that accidents happen, as long as they are not a regular occurence. I liked BakedBeensprevious comment. Makes some sense. But it is important just to at least talk about these issues--------and right now there are a lot of issues that need to be decided------and a lot of t...

one factor is going to be how they are going to be arranged---------- with so many here we found it cheapest to dispense with the matt and 'float' the piece on acid free black----that way you don't need the matt and thw whole posters shows---and then use a standard black metal frame--eveything match...

Ken Kesey states positively that the goldenrod is the first printing---I disagree, I think that the black and white is the first--it is much rarer, and I have only seen a venue in the bottome right corner only on white ones--never on goldenrod ones. P.

First, I am the 'guest' listed above-----I don't even know how I did it-------. This thread has given me pause to think [paws?]. This is a changing issue..... I was reading in one of my books on the history of posters about color----that what is considered 'matching' or that 'go together' has actual...

This poster was printed twice. The first printing was a silkscreened edition that I paid for. However, after it was done, I was told that it wasn't approved and all had to be disposed of, so I never even received any copies. The litho version came out shortly afterwards-------it looks a lot the same...
