Re: FD-027 Howlin' Wolf SF 66 Mouse Kelley

Damn ... can you believe the recent auctions? I always liked this image because I always liked the American roots music of Chester Burnett. I picked up one poster in the late '60's and it sits, faded and half rotted, on the wall of a hundred year old garage in Santa Barbara. Do you think I wish I'd ...

...aaand I stand corrected. 8) Well done. I do recall these now that you've brought them up. 2 were also printed on canvas. I was fortunate to see the print process and the final products - canvas and metal side by side. The metal printing is unique, clearly delineated, and has a bright modern indu...

Re: What are the TRUE HOLY GRAILS of gigposter collecting?

I have a really good 2nd printing, but I've never seen a good 1st printing in person. In fact, it's almost expected that if you have a 1st printing, it's got some damage (pinholes, dog-eared corners, fading/yellowing, etc.). It's like a badge of honor to float a 1st edition in a frame, showing all ...

Re: AOR 2.358 Hog Farm 69 Griffin

The 1st edition is one incredibly tough poster to find in decent condition. The stock used is super thin (4.5 pt.), resulting in instant bends, dog-ears and tears. They damage very easily. I've seen dozens and dozens over the years, yet have never seen one without flaws. I'm sure there must be a few...

Re: How did you get started in this madness?!

Hey gypsy, that slobbering wolf may be my favorite poster ever. I looked for it for about 15 years before I snagged it. i almost bought one in 76 but bulked at the 25 dollar price since posters were 3 bucks a pop usually . Always did like Howlin' Wolf's music - my Opa used to play it when I was a t...

Re: How did you get started in this madness?!

My first?
I bought a few FD images for bands I liked in '67 as a teen to stick up on my walls. $1 a piece.
One had a zig-zag man on it, another a howlin' wolf, another just trippy letters for a Mothers show, the other had a skeleton with roses.
A lifetime of paper addiction followed ........

Re: Grateful Dead Egypt 78 Mouse

There was a program produced for the Dead in Egypt shows that used the same image as the backstage pass and the poster. The size of the program is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" . There are 8 pages. 1st page has a picture of the pyramids. Followed by two pages in English. Then a foldout of the Sphinx head. Followe...
