Re: Currency Wars, USD, YEN, Bitcoin and what it means to yo

If you are a buy and hold or HODL then yes you do not have any gains untill you sell or trade the BTC to another party for goods (like art or other crypto). But BTC is not currency so trading it to somone for goods will create a realized gain on the crypto that is taxable and set your cost basis in ...

Re: The Josh Keyes Thread

The answer to your question is now. You can buy posters from lots of places that do reimburse the artists. Society6 comes to mind, and Josh already does that through prints on wood as i recall with his open editions there. Art prints have never been about time and materials and have always been an e...

Re: The Josh Keyes Thread

Print sales have very little to do with whether a gallery will continue to rep an artist, but it may cause them to renegotiate the splits or production cost. margins on giclee are very large. I would assume production cost on this print are under $10 a unit, including scanning the original work and ...

Re: The Josh Keyes Thread

I never thought i would be passing on primary market Keyes offers, but i have now multiple times. BUT it is a new year and hope springs eternal, and the money went to good use buy...

Re: Jerkface Prints

he has a gallery backstopping his recent auction results and pushing prices. It does not feel like there is a deep pool of bonafide buyers, as there were when the same was happening with invader.

No they were all presale before the list came out. Lisa's pieces were also offered privately, so what was in the preview was leftovers

Re: Martin Wittfooth - News/Discussion

Well now, learned something new every day. PPs I was familiar with, HCs I was familiar with, then there is the AP. But don't think I have seen a BAT. Very cool, so it is a real part of the printing process and not just an extension of the numbered run, which seems to be more and more the norm for AP...

Re: Martin Wittfooth - News/Discussion

Is a nice piece for sure. The light color pallet should lend itself well to a giclee. Some of Martin's prints are a little over dark for my tastes. Seems like this is well chosen image for the medium That said, I had to google bon à tirer and the first thing that comes up is a Luke Wilson movie. So ...
