Re: Where We Stood, Saying I 13 Bookout

I am a great admirer of Farley's skills as an illustrator and printer. This print, which I have, is extraordinary both as an illustration and as a print. The price is a reflection of the great labors of time, skill, and love that went into this work. I strongly recommend that anyone interested look ...

Re: Tool Camden 12 Faught

http://www.friendsofart.net/static/images/art2/alphonse-mucha-zodiac.jpg This is Mucha's Zodiac image, which was so popular it was used in multiple iterations, such as advertising calendars. I've not seen the Faught print in person, but the image does appear to bear some resemblance to Zodiac. The ...

It's always risky to judge a Malleus by a jpeg, but this image looks very beautiful to me.

I had no idea this had that added dimension. Those GID images appear to be actual German film posters from the prewar/war era.

Re: Let The Right One In 10 Stout

This is Stouts best print IMO. I think so too I also like this print very much. Stylistically it is a change from his characteristic complex collage of characters to a simpler presentation of the key pair. It also allows the snow to be a dominant element of the print, as it is in the film. I feel t...

Re: Collectors - a question

Posters received enormous interest, with many collectors and museum exhibitions from about 1895 through about 1920.

By then tastes had changed and, probably more importantly, commercial printing had also changed allowing, especially, the easy and

inexpensive reproduction of photographs.

Re: Pearl Jam Sao Paulo 11 Sperry

I'm not so sure that people in the US give a fudge about posters. In some ways this poster reminds me of Ludwig Hohlwein's brilliant series of posters for the Munich Zoo. One could argue that the image/layout is in the Plakatstil sytle, but the background is clearly a Squirt homage to Mucha's "La D...
