Re: Frankenstein 11 Struzan / Taylor
OK, I'll say it. I love this image. The Taylor lettering takes it over the top into pure Universal Monsters nirvana, and the Kevin Tong separations? Freaky good. But because this amazing poster - in all its silkscreened glory - is based on a previously existing painting, it wasn't in the running for...

Re: A Perfect Vacuum 11 Geddes
Funny how a "Giclee" print wins art print of the year. pathetic. I love it when someone talks out of their south pole hole...LOL It wasn't the Giclee that won the award, it was the OG oil painting. Go to the home page and click on 'Art of the Year' and you will see that it drops you to the OG page....

Re: A Perfect Vacuum 11 Geddes
Funny how a "Giclee" print wins art print of the year. pathetic. Jeremy Geddes is frighteningly talented. I especially love this painting. Maybe it should be voted painting of the year somewhere else. But Art Print of the Year?!? A poster? A fancy inkjet repro on nice paper of an already existing w...

Re: Cosmos 12 Sperry
The "fixed" version still looks weird to me. It's not as obviously an error, but it's giving me an optical illusion effect. Before, it was clear that the top of the foot was facing into the picture, but the big toe was on the wrong side. Now it almost looks like the top of the foot is facing out, t...

Re: Cosmos 12 Sperry
All I can see now is the feet. Thanks a lot guys. :x Try staring at the boobs. You're forget about the feet eventually. I figured there'd be a comment like that after I posted. Nicely done. :D The "fixed" version still looks weird to me. It's not as obviously an error, but it's giving me an ...

Re: Recurring Dreams of Rita 11 Oliveira
Congratulations Tim! This award couldn't have been gone to a more impressive print or a nicer guy.
Now we wait for Mr. Oliveira's next creation. Actually, I can't wait.

Re: Recurring Dreams of Rita 11 Oliveira
Looks deceptively simple. The tension between the foreground and background (especially, in my opinion, in the versions with yellow) is what takes this to the next level(s) of sophistication. Pure post-Pop genius.

Re: Recurring Dreams of Rita 11 Oliveira
Completely agree. Although Tim could have put a flaming mushroom cloud in the corner, and I'm not sure it would draw my attention away from her.cargoflipper wrote:I noticed he dropped his signature from the corner of his prints. I think its a nice touch as your eye never moves away from Rita!

Re: Recurring Dreams of Rita 11 Oliveira
I'm going for the purple/blue So interesting how we're all drawn to different things. For me, in the purple/blue version, Rita lies on top of the background. In the other two, it seems to me there is far more tension between the foreground image of Ms. Hayworth and the background colors, and I love...

Re: Recurring Dreams of Rita 11 Oliveira
Agreed. And with no offense intended to Marilyn, it's Rita Hayworth (aka Margarita Cansino) who for me is the female icon of icons. The fact that she was married to Orson Welles and they gave birth to 'The Lady From Shanghai' (not to mention a daughter, as well) makes her an even greater star in my ...

Re: Vintage Spray 11 Millard
Honestly didn't have the money right now to buy anything. But I've been watching Ian's work with increasing interest over the past year and this is the one that got me. If 'Vintage Spray' ends up looking anywhere near as good as the jpeg... wow. That's some seriously amazing stencil work. A truly ic...
