Re: Game of Thrones

I fully expected at least one of Jaime, Brienne or Tormund to die. But I'm glad they didn't get Walking Dead deaths. Only complaint is I wish that their individual survivals were more believably portrayed. Was sure Pod and Grey Worm were going to be done-sies. Loved how Jorah's final moments played ...

Re: Game of Thrones

Rhaegal crashed landed, but survived. He appears in a shot or two in the 'next episode' preview. Something something dragons and magic so anything can happen. Honestly I think last ep was the show mostly saying bye-bye to magic as any kind of plot driver. No more Night King, wights, or Melisandre. P...

Re: Game of Thrones

I am in this more for the story than for perfect execution of battle sequences. Definitely was aware while watching that certain shots and sequences could have been staged more credibly, but it didnt hinder my enjoying of the story being told. Except for some eye strain. I had some quibbles with som...

Re: Game of Thrones

^^ ! I'm glad I didnt see that coming. And she used that same knife-hand switcheroo move last season sparring with Brienne in the Winterfell yard. Nice callback. Melisandre was so pivotal throughout the entire episode, I really liked everything about how she was brought back in. Validated her...

Yeah, the "my dad fought with a wahammer so I guess I should too" thing is a bit cloying. Small details though, and if it's any consolation we might not be seeing it very much longer.

Re: Game of Thrones

Cersei's torture for Ellaria was to keep her alive against her own will, chained up across from her favourite sand snake daughter, watching her first die via the lipstick poison, then rot and turn to to dust.

Re: Game of Thrones

The condensed pacing and awkward dialogue is a by-product of the storytelling being driven after Season 4 by showrunners who decided they needed to 'be done' with the show in seven and a half seasons, and who refused to hand off the show to new showrunners who would've made it to ten (full) seasons ...

Re: Game of Thrones

Man. Loved it. Brienne and Jaime, I couldnt keep it together. By the way episode title was "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," which is perfect. Has another layer or two of meaning for book readers. So many scenes played as "last words before character dies in battle." If all of Grey Worm, Pod and Jor...

Re: Game of Thrones

He explains how pretty well in the clip. “The major (story) beats” will be the same. “On certain secondary characters there may be big differences”. Agree about all of those plots you mentioned.

Re: Game of Thrones

That's right, the 60 minutes interview was what I was thinking of, and here's a direct quote : " I don't think Dan and Dave's ending is going to be that different from my ending, because of the conversations we did have" And mentions the meetings where he told them how it all finishes, after the poi...

Re: Game of Thrones

GRRM at the premiere of the first ep three weeks ago stated that he thinks the show will have pretty much the same ending as the books. A few years ago D& D went to George's house and over the course of a few days got the complete telling of how the story completes. So all the broad strokes, major d...

Re: Game of Thrones

It would only be fitting for a show like Game of Thrones to have the Night King win where nobody gets to sit on the Iron Throne. I think that would be bad ass. Where the greatest show to ever be on television doesn't have a happy ending. Seems like a GoT theme. Oh I fully believe that there will be...
