Why is that with bourbon?
Good read about "oxidizing" and bourbon.

Re: World of Whiskey

The family grew by 1 today and I got LUCKY! Random drop on a store's barrels pick (total of 8 different barrels). Limit was 2 bottles per person and was able to score them before they sold out. Tried it and it was good but quite a bit of spice (not surprising from 114.5% proof). New rankings: Strai...

I missed out on a bottle of batch C919 a few months back that I could have got my hands on. I’m still kicking myself.
That stuff sits on shelves here in many places. Not much else does, but ECBP for some reason is pretty available in the Twin Cities.

Re: World of Whiskey

Thanks for the link jjbehren, but they don't ship to my state unfortunately. My local spot has the SB but not a store pick. Have you had the Barrel Proof? I haven't seen one in the wild yet but I know they're popular around me too. Yes. I love the Barrel Proof. One of the best deals in bourbon. 12-...

Re: World of Whiskey

I haven't tried the Elijah Craig SB yet. I was able to pick up 2 bottles of the Toasted Barrel this week (my first introduction to EC). Not bad, a little bland but still enjoyable. Find a good shop with a good Elijah Craig Small Batch store pick private barrel. There are shops around me that get so...

Re: World of Whiskey

Smoke Wagon is all sourced MGP stuff. I have one bottle of the private barrel stuff I haven't broken into yet, but it'll be similar to a lot of the MGP stuff floating around out there. Smooth Ambler's Old Scout 99 proof is pretty available, and would be similar to the SW Small Batch. The SW Private ...

Re: World of Whiskey

I'm a big fan. This most recent batch is very good. It's strong, but I like that. It makes the bottle last a lot longer because the pour is smaller. I like a couple of small ice cubes in it. It's definitely worth searching out. I use an ap on my phone called wine-searcher, but it only works for tho...

Re: World of Whiskey

there is a swath of Buffalo Trace bourbons that uses the same (or quite similar) mash bill. Variances might be the type of yeast, time aged & wharehouse location, but there are several like ETL that they offer. I think they all use a % of wheat in the mix, so they have a sweeter flavor profile. Roc...

Re: World of Whiskey

The Single Barrel varies by bottle. The one I have open right now is one of the best obtainable whiskeys I've had. But others are just average.

What is this Taylor 6 year you speak of? Are you referring to the old stuff from 10+ years ago? 80 proof, I believe
