Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Spent entirely too much time this week thinking about "Jaws" and COVID-19 response:

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Celebrated the 40th anniversary of "The Shining" by watching more than a dozen Stephen King adaptations this week. Perfectly normal quarantine behavior.

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Watched– and then re-watched– that abominable Shudder docuseries on cursed films. This should have been awesome, but the whole thing seems slapped together and maddeningly lazy. https://quarantinetheater.wordpress.com/2020/05/09/why-you-do-this-to-me-dimi-the-failed-promise-of-shudders-cursed-films/

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Spent a chunk of my week rewatching the "Paranormal Activity" franchise. I really wish the series would have followed the trajectory of "The Marked Ones." Review and ranking here: https://quarantinetheater.wordpress.com/2020/05/08/i-dont-give-a-fuck-what-that-thing-says-on-the-ouija-board-ranking-th...

Quarantine Theater viewing for week 7.
https://quarantinetheater.wordpress.com ... er-week-7/

Biggest surprise: The Paranormal Activity series is better than I remembered.
Biggest disappointment: Antrum failed to deliver on its premise and mythology.

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Finally got around to writing up my Top 10 horror films of the 2010s. Check it out, & let me know whether you agree. What should have made the cut but didn't? What would *your* list look like? https://quarantinetheater.wordpress.com/2020/04/16/as-long-as-they-accept-our-sacrifice-they-remain-below-t...

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

I started a horror blog to keep myself sane during quarantine. If you're looking for something to read, please check it out. I've been writing essays, reviews, and weekly viewing logs.

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Bliss should have been good. Instead, it was mostly a melange of moments we've seen before, all hiding behind gels on intricate lighting schemes. 3 From Hell was not good enough to be Haig's last film. Though I'd love to see what Rob Zombie could do with a script that he didn't write. Parasite was t...

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Tried to make a point to watch some new things this October: Headcount (Netflix) was obnoxious, predictable, and generally pretty stupid. Haunt (Shudder) had some great moments and nice art design, but nothing spectacular. Anna and the Apocalypse: I wanted to love this movie. I really did. But I abs...

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Thinking about doing an all Found Footage 31 in 31. So far, the list is shaping up as follows. I'm using a pretty loose definition here, and this list pretty much includes stuff I own or that will be streaming in October. What am I missing? Any suggestions or good additions? Blair Witch and Blair W...

Re: The Official Horror Movie Thread

Caight "Ready or Not" this morning and really enjoyed it. It was well made, a lot of fun, and had some surprisingly excellent gore. It also definitely gives some "You're Next" vibes, but that's a good thing in my book. Definitely recommended.
