Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

I think the rules were written quite a while back so there's no ignorance on your part - you're just not stuck in the dark ages (like much of the legislation 😆). The definitions could do with being updated but they are global definitions based on harmonised tariff codes so that would take quite a bi...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

That's confusing, lithographs are printed using printers. Do they mean linoprint? Lithographs can be hand pulled or produced using a printing press (e.g. offset lithographs). Because offset lithographs use a press (mechanical process) they wouldn't fall under commodity code 9702 reduced VAT. This m...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

That's what i meant when i said 'art print', which is basically a lithograph/giclee/screen print but I assumed they all fall into that same bracket, i didn't think that was a thing any more but it seems it is. Here is the reference from HMRC's site for people interested: https://www.trade-tariff.se...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

Thanks for the very clear and succinct suggestion to use that VATR code and full description. I’m now in two minds whether to use this route as it hints that “I know the rules” and likely draws more attention to the package from Customs to challenge. The alternative would be to split the $300 packa...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

I didn't think there were any reduced rate tariffs available since they changed the import laws to the UK, it used to be that art prints were reduced rate but I think that was scrapped and anything over the value of £135 now gets taxed upon passing through UK borders. Anything under £135 gets VAT c...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

Once you've imported the pages you can frame them - HMRC won't check what you do with them once you've got them but saying that they are loose pages that are intended to be bound (even in a ring binder) helps them to fall into the zero rated category. In answer to your question about whether this co...

Re: Importing to the UK - VAT & Delivery info

Hi. I don't think this would fall under the reduced rate VAT for lithographs (art) because of the edition size and the addition of text. If your friend could ship them inside a hole punched sleeve that would go into a ring binder then you might be able to use the following: Commodity code: 490110000...

Re: Database Entry Update Requests

Hi,

Can you update http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/273342 as there are 4 versions:
Silver reg (the first version added)
Pink reg
Silver variant
Pink Variant

Each edition is of 47. I've tried adding images to image gallery but the silver variant doesn't seem to be uploading.

Cheers! :-)
