Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

Earlier on in this thread there was an overwhelming number of people saying that we should be marking all of these things that we work on, and I said I'd be happy to...

Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

This may have already been covered, and I apologize if it has, but what impact does restoration have on value of the piece? I am in talks with someone to do a trade involving a very badly damaged Banksy. The image is however fine, it's just the border. Trying to figure out what impact it will have ...

You folks might like our new video, it's an introduction for little show we're working on. The show will be 2 episodes only. We're helping out an aspiring film maker to build his resume and it's coming out pretty good! It's less than 5 minutes long, have a look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2eMIC...

Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

I've actually tried to contact Mondo about those because I actually can use them for data gathering and research (not for restoration), but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

Does your process also work on stenciled prints?

Most likely, I can fix this without too much trouble, but as with anything, 'll need to see it in person and run some tests on it first.

Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

Standard movie posters are very different from contemporary silkscreens. I have many, many years of experience with typical posters, but still have so much yet to learn about these silkscreens. To answer your question, YES, in theory this method could be applied to most, folded 27 x 41 movie posters...

We normally do ship prints back flat in REALLY sturdy packaging, so domestic return shipping is normally about $35.00.

Re: Poster Mountain Appreciation Thread

FYI I am working on a new, simplified procedure for flattening prints and crease removal that should allow me to do it much cheaper in the future. With this technique I can avoid a wash by humidifying in a chamber and I hope to be able to provide this service for about $50.00!!
