Re: ART OF YEAR ---- POSTER OF YEAR

Man! I just typed out and posted an intelligent response about people other than Shep tagging the Andre imagery. And, it dissappeared into a black hole. Where did it go? :?

Re: ART OF YEAR ---- POSTER OF YEAR

Could one of the mods please explain the distinction between an Obama Poster and an Obama Art Print? Personally, I see them ALL as posters since they were created for promotional/advertising reasons(even Progress was used to raise funds for the campaign). But, half seem to have been in with the Post...

Re: Poster of the Year 08

I just went through the voting myself. It was a bit confusing because there were definitely art prints in the poster section? And, personally I consider most (all Fairey) Obama prints to be posters. In the most classic sense of the term the Fairey Obama prints functioned more as a poster than just a...

Re: TIME . . . Person of the Year

So, Barack Obama is Time Magazine's person of the year. But, by using the iconic Shepard Fairey image on the cover isn't it fair to say that Shepard Fairey is largely responsible for the popularity of the Obama image. And, by default might actually be the person of the year? You have completely los...

Re: Deserted Island vs. Favorite Artist . . . Poll

I went with Banksy I could sell his work for enough to buy a boat to get off the island now THAT is funny as hell What's REALLY funny as hell is that someone thinks that somehow, in being BANISHED to a DESERTED island, that they will still be able to find a market for their greed. So, basically, th...

Re: Deserted Island vs. Favorite Artist . . . Poll

You should have included Visual Technicians (Jeff Boyes). And if you include the collectives of Ames and Malleus, you should include Burlesque, Methane, and Firehouse. Otherwise the results are invalid. OK no, poll is perfect. I agree on Jeff Boyes, I should have included him. I don't consider Burl...

Deserted Island vs. Favorite Artist . . . Poll

This subject was brought up in another topic. So, here is a poll. Someone posted the top 'artists in collection' from the statistics page so, I have used that list to make up this one. The poll includes the top 50 artists in collections on the site. I excluded *unknown, *promoter, and any studios. I...

Re: Which artist on EB has the largest fanbase?

Prints numbers in collections is very inaccurate . . . • Every new Emek poster comes with at least one handbill/mini and/or sticker . . . so, everyone enters 2-3 items for each print they actually receive. Yes, the handbills/minis are technically prints. I'm just saying that for every one sale 2-3 i...

Re: are 2nd editions taboo?

i think that's different then an artist just printing up a 2nd edition to make money I completely don't understand this sentiment. Why vilify an artist for trying to make a living? If there is a demand why shouldn't the artist that created the work capitalize? That is what this society is about. Wo...

Define 'fanbase'.

If you mean the people who make money off artist's work . . . I agree.

If you mean the people who love the artwork . . . I disagree.

Re: are 2nd editions taboo?

Honestly, I believe the art belongs to the artist and not the people who buy the art. Why should an artist feel obligated to protect the inflated market value of their own artwork at the expense of satisfying a wider audience? Why should they turn down the opportunity to make money from their own la...

Re: John Butler Trio Seattle 05 Wood

Mods: The SE info for this is incorrect. It has the SE listed as a handbill and size of 4.825x11. All edition details for SE s/b same as 1st edition but with a run of 20. Also, I added some pics. One overall and one detail that shows the layering better. The image that shows the layering isn't color...

Re: Arcade Fire Dallas 05 Slater

Please delete the last record of sale for this poster. It has been returned to the seller  *** *** auction in dispute due to non-disclosed condition (not counted) Wow, I'm really curious since the auction was from Todd himself and the auction said 'perfectly mint'. :? I don't think the auction...
