It appears that only EB member sales and/or eBay auction sales are permitted. There are other venues for sales and other auction forums than eBay. Can someone explain the reasoning behind restricting sales reporting to only those two sources? If I am wrong or this has been previously discussed, my apologies for remaining uninformed. Thanks.

No restrictions at all. You can add anything via the corrections thread (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19848) or by adding it like you sold it through the item's page and putting a note saying where the sale was from.

Provide documentation and a sale can be added. There are many gallery and website sales on here as well.

Sorry for the newb questions but you don't learn by not asking.
I was interested in adding sales (not sales that involved me) from auction sites featuring music memorabilia including posters. For example: http://entertainment.ha.com/?ic=Tab-Home-041408
What documentation needs to be provided and to whom/how does it need to be provided? I followed the instructions for adding such sales as a personal sale but it appeared the sale remained under the For Sale or Trade tab, rather than showing up under the price history under the Detail tab for the item. Also, when entering under the Sale or Trade tab, I saw no way of including the date the sale/auction occurred.

Again, sorry for the newb questions and thanks for the assist...

You need to remember to hit "save" at the bottom of the page after clicking the "item sold at this price" button. If you don't nothing will change. Common mistake.

That was the problem. But I have a couple more questions.

When posting a sale, I can see no way to include the actual date of the sale. I'm wanting to post sales data from some auction sites and some of the data is from two or three years ago. When I post the sales data, it defaults to today's date and, in doing so, corrupts the 6-month average graph for the item, since this past sale is recorded as if it were a recent sale.
Is there something I'm not seeing? It seems to me that the more sales data, the better, but I don't want to add data that misrepresents the timeline of the sales.

Also, the sales I've looked at appear to record either eBay or the EB member's ID for the source. But I see some sales that record the source of the sale as "private sale". Are there other "sources" in addition to these? How do these get recorded since I don't see any way to enter a "source" for a sale?

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Try putting the actual date of sale and the auction house/dealer name in the "notes" section of your recorded sale. A mod can edit that in the sale approval process.
