Yikes. You wrote that you remember him laughing and enriching your sons life, that's a good thing. Your empathy is palpable through your post, I feel I'd be reacting similarly in your spot. Sorry to hear.

Go home get your family and spend the rest of the day doing something you usually put off....playground, library, park, something a bit more special than the usual.

Best.

what Guryter said - get out of the office if you can and spend some quality time with the family.

My condolences, that's really terrible.

that's terrible man. the best thing you can do is talk about it with friends, your wife, or even a pro. there is no reason to go it alone. go for a long run, hike, bike ride, or something. buy a punching bag scream at the top of your lungs, smash things with a baseball bat or sledgehammer. anything to vent out some of the emotion when the pain is too real. try and get out of the daily routine so you brain is engaged. hug your wife. i lost my first close friend in 5th grade and several siince. it is a pain that never fully goes away, but talking through it with friends and letting it out makes everyday a little easier. even just posting here is a good step forward in processing things. remember, the sun always rises and it will get better. best of luck. feel free to pm if you just need to dump things

Really sorry to hear about that. Like others have said, get out of work if you can and be with your family. I've been through a similar situation within the past couple years and found solace in my loved ones. What really helps me heal is the happiness of my wife and kids, but it always takes time.

iwokeinrelief, as others have stated, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I had a family member who I was extremely close to pass away a few years ago. Not by suicide; it was natural, but it still hurt. Find whatever works best for you in terms of coping. For me, it was music. That's why since then and still now The Beatles are my favorite band of all-time. They helped with the healing process and were one of a few bright spots in an otherwise very dark period in my life. Also, everyone griefs differently and at their own pace. Don't let people tell you months from now that you should "get over it" or be over it by now. Do what works best for you and forget about everyone else who tells you any different.

Thank you all. I really mean that. It helped to get it out of my head and down here. Going to wrap stuff up here over the next couple minutes and then I'm going to go hit a trail on my bike.

Here's a good PP

People who "donate" their birthdays to causes on Facebook

How about NOT

NO ONE wants to donate to the cause you just took 3 seconds to Google because it's your birthday you pretentious a-holes. Get off ya high horse and donate your own money. And breaking news, no one is going to buy you a birthday present in your 30s (aside from close family). GTFO

That this sentence is actually true... :hanging:

The bloodshed 30 miles south of Houston is the worst mass shooting in America since February, when 17 people were gunned down at a high school in Parkland, Florida, according to a database of shootings maintained by the Washington Post.

He was there. You know, after the shooting, carrying an American flag, with a MAGA hat on and pistol on his side, down the street.
