Honestly a strange day to release, lol I was at work thinking of leaving early to go though. it's about an hour north from NYC on the train.kansasbbq wrote:Did anybody go yesterday?kansasbbq wrote:Is anybody hitting up the Hudson Valley release?
Please reach out if so.
Really hard up for dat fudge huh.
P.S. Went to a bar tonight that unbeknownst to me does a Karl Strauss "takeover" every second Saturday. Wish I'd known that or I never woulda gone. Their beer is so turrible. Quite possibly the worst "barrel aged" beers I've eva had.

Had this Nogne Eternal Rest for the first time yesterday. “This imperial stout is our way of taking the best of what we have in our barrel cellar and blending it to create something unique. Eternal Rest is a combination of Russian Imperial Stout aged for 19 months in Armagnac Barrels and Imperial Stout aged 25 months in Bourbon Barrels. The blend was then conditioned on top of fresh vanilla beans and toasted coconut.” Had a great mouth feel and tasted delicious but the coconut has fallen off!
Went to Portland this weekend. What a trip. Hit up Bissell Brothers, then to Austin Street, Allagash, Goodfire, and Lone Pine. On the way home today we hit up Barreled Souls. Was blown away by these guys. Everything they do is aged in oak barrels. Their stouts are amazing and they have a series called Dark Matter that they only classify as a "dark ale". The bartender told me it's a mix of a stout and a porter, but doesn't qualify as either. Can't wait to head back up there.
Thanks for the Barreled Souls tip. Love Bissell (Nothing Gold) and Austin Street (Kon Tiki). New England is the sh*t.ChrisV wrote:Went to Portland this weekend. What a trip. Yeah, I was seriously ill most of yesterday. A guy from St Louis who came in town for the party I had arranged a trade with. When we met up sunday morning he looked as bad as I did, while talking he said "excuse me", and ducked behind his car and barfed. It was rough, but damn what a good time.shoeless wrote:
