Nice to see someone picked up the balls of dukes torch from Geddes.

What is the message Cleon is conveying with his art?

The write-up on his site will give you a good idea as to what his art conveys.

Might be time to start branching out? Only so many ways to depict violent nekkid dudes.

I guess sending a message about the violence in the world, by using violent imagery, is the answer. Eh? I don't get it...but, whatever.

Cleon’s works hold a mirror to humanity, asking us to confront the ills of society, or, at the very least, reflect upon them: greed, power, tribalism, war, (drug) abuse - the latter, which is close to home for him. You know, the small stuff that hold us back as a species. I, personally, enjoy his work because it’s reminiscent of Greco-Roman art, while remaining fresh and modern. His work has evolved over the years and I’m sure that he will do bigger and better things, and deservedly so. He’s already well on his way. If you’re only conducting a surface reading here without appreciating the deeper themes, you’re missing out. I enjoy his work purely at an aesthetic level as well: his compositions and designs are quite stellar, in my view.

The guy does do other work, I saw an advertisement that he did in the NY Mag about a month ago for a play or something, recognized his artwork almost immediately and it didn't have people slaughtering each other on it. hey but to each their own.
