Just got the email. Is it going to get colored at any point?

I'm not very familiar with these projects, but the lack of color seem bizarre to me, especially given the past three were. I have the lifted sculpture and it's nice. But the white rhino doesn't do it for me, but I'd have bought if it had color.

why would the size have anything to do with not being colored?

Thanks for the video, six. I’m kinda glad that I can suppress the urge to get into those toys/sculptures, but I can happily admire them and the high craftsmanship going into them.

Because it is literally a big paint job and would take more time.Grateful69Phish wrote:why would the size have anything to do with not being colored?

I talked to them at length about it at comic con. The white is the final production. No it is never going to get painted, no it is not intended as a kit to be painted by the purchaser, but it does come in pieces like the hermit crabs, so you could paint it if you have the skills to pay those bills.
My guess is that the lifted paint job was not great, the hermit crabs have good paint but may have been expensive and this was a happy middle ground. Would have preferred it as a cold cast bronze (resin with a bronze powder in it) but it is quite striking in person.
Side note, you can not beat the hermit crabs at the half price sale price if you are on the fence, and they always run a solid black Friday deal.
this isn't the first time they've done an unpainted run.chevyav53 wrote:That is disappointing, not being colored and surprised Keyes signed off on it this way. Seems very dull for him.

That's terrible. C'mon now Josh. Run of missteps for JK IMO. That white collector sculpture is....not good.

Have to agree (although the use of the word terrible is too strong). I wanted one of Josh’s originals in the worst way, and spent considerable time trying to track one down for my collection. Now I only covet his art from a few years ago. I don’t feel good writing this. Josh seems to be a terrific person, and puts a lot of thought and time into his art. Even worse, I often read comments on the art forums that fans and collectors become bored when an artist stays with a general theme or style for too long without evolving or moving in new directions. This is exactly what Josh tried to do, and rather than praising him, we are being harsh in our critique of his work. But the truth is that I am losing interest in his art, and these latest releases aren’t helping.earlgreytoast wrote:That's terrible. C'mon now Josh. Run of missteps for JK IMO. Yes, I didn't pull my punch. I have 5 framed JK pieces. I'm a huge fan, check my avatar. (not that that proves anything) Hopefully, it goes without saying that technically, his work is amazing. I mean look at that water in Fallen!?! Amazing. But it almost angered me to see this piece, and I went with "terrible." Half the piece is sky that, at least from the jpeg, looks juvenile and like a huge step back.
