What is the best option for under the bed storage?

It looks like a 24x36 solander case is about $300 which is very expensive (2.5" deep).

I can only find archival museum drop front boxes that are 1.5" deep and those are about $125.

How many print can safely fit in a 1.5" deep box?

Also, if storing in a box under a bed, is mylar sheets and corners sufficient, or is backing board needed as well?

I bought this a few years back and it has served its purpose for me. Fits under my bed and is big enough to store my oddly-long size Horkey Prints.

It's basically a really expensive cardboard box. But it is all acid free and archival. I grabbed the one-sheet size so it could fit all my big prints, and just separate them with glassine paper.

I have a number of 24 x 36, 1—1/2" deep archival museum boxes under the bed with about 40 to 50 prints in each box, interleaved with glassine sheets, no backers or corners. If your boxes don't get jostled around this ought to work for you.
