Happy May the fourth! Super stoked how this frame turned out. Three mats...silver bottom, red mid, black top. Bad ass deep woodgrain chrome plated frame to match Captain Phasma's armor. Screen print by Brian Miller

The multiple mats create a cool hypnotizing effect, but distract from the artwork, imo.

Reverse bevel or black core on the mats might have been less distracting to you...but it still looks great. How deep did it end up being?

Thank you for the compliment. I did the multi mats in that fashion to give it the 3D look and to drag your eyes into the print. When it was all finished with frame and glass it was slightly over 1 inch deep. I will try a reverse bevel the next time I do that many mats, it would be interesting to see how that would turn out.
