MANY YEARS FROM NOW

My first book on Paul McCartney but a fantastic read! Very in depth and covered a wide range of topics from his upbringing, to Linda, to Allen Klein to of course, the meat and potatoes of the book: The Beatles. I loved how Paul told his recollections of songwriting with John. Who wrote what and how much of a song was written by any particular person. As well as going through their later albums in more depth about what mood he was in or what inspirations were for certain songs. A straight from the horses mouth book that's as close to an autobiography as we're going to get from Sir Paul McCartney. My only knock would be sometimes the book I felt could give too much background information, setting up a scene. I would feel in some cases it would go on longer than I would have liked but in other circumstances, I appreciated the information. For example, the book begins about the city of Liverpool and how important it is as a port town, etc. Next up will probably be George Harrison's I ME MINE but I'm going to give myself a break for a bit.

Yeah I plowed through it in a day and a half . I've read a few others by him . I'm hoping in 2019 the part 2 of the current Monet exhibit has some big lillies .

Picked this up too at the library but haven't started it

With the upcoming remake of It, I am thinking about reading that over the summer, anyone have any reviews? The size always turned me off and how King can drag on for a while, I did like The Shining and Salems Lot. Did anyone read It?

^Yea, it's a great read.

I hear ya though. He did too many drugs in the 80's and (by his own admission) rambled too much in a couple of books (ie Tommyknockers). Rolling Stone had a good interview with him a couple of years back ("Misery is about cocaine").

At what point did hard drugs enter the picture?
It was probably about '78, around the same time that I realized that I was out of control with drinking. Well, I thought I was in control, but in reality I wasn't.

That was cocaine?
Yeah, coke. I was a heavy user from 1978 until 1986, something like that.

Did you write on coke?
Oh, yeah, I had to. I mean, coke was different from booze. Booze, I could wait, and I didn't drink or anything. But I used coke all the time.

You had three young kids at the time. It must have been very stressful to keep this huge secret while balancing all your responsibilities.
I don't remember.

I read It originally when I was 12, then again in college. Loved it both times. Tried to re-read it again recently and had a hard time getting into it.

I'm actually re-reading 'Salem's Lot (as part of a full re-read of the Dark Tower and core related books) for the first time since high school and enjoying it a lot more than I did then.

I was thinking about picking IT up too. Read part of it as a kid and honestly don't really remember much of it. Hopefully I can get into it now. The trailer really has me excited and the book should help pass some time until the movie comes out.

Gonna check out that Rolling Stone interview.

Reading Shogun. It's nice so far. Good intro into Japanese culture.

I've been meaning to give Sanderson a try one of these days.

Just finished Octavia Butler's Kindred. Really liked it.
