The faster load times with 17 are great. Reinstalling all my add-ons after the update was not. :x

Can't install v17. Play Store just opens 16. I d/l the two APK files (32, 64) and neither works.

There's just no way it can continue. It's too good. And easy. ISP's are gonna crack down. There's just no way.

Follow up... this was a great purchase... all games/systems, from Dreamcast and prior, and it runs Kodi 10x better than the firestick
Oh yeah? What do you plug it into... the tv? I never dabbled in the Pi.
Yes - it plugs into any device with an HDMI input. It is about 10x harder to install and setup than the Firestick, but once you get it, it is great! I ended up going simple... installed Retropie, then adding Kodi 17 through the optional packages. Built three of these things now... one for me and two for friends.
Purchased some NES30 Pro controllers and Rii i8+ mini wireless keyboard/mouse... a PowerBlock for a safe on/off switch... the setup is nearly flawless!

Strange... There were a couple of other variables at play for me... like Kodi v17, which is a huge improvement from v16, and the ability to connect the Pi3 via Ethernet (instead of wifi on the stick). I think the processor speeds are pretty similar between the Pi3 and newest Firestick, but the Pi3 defiantly works better for me.

you can install Kodi on top of RetroPie? I did not know that.

I have a RaspPi3 with RetroPie that I built with the kids to have an arcade on the tv . . . didn't know I could run/install Kodi through it.

For someone just looking to get into this, with a $100-150 budget, what would you recommend? Fast interface is a must, flexibility, VPN support and any DVR capabilities would be great. I would mostly want to stream HD, but got a new 4k TV last December and have decent DL speed.

Thanks

I use ip vanish. It's about $8/month but you just launch the app on fire stick and watch whatever.
Personally, I love it for movies (Exodus) , TV, and live sports(Sports Devil and Pro Sport). It even has subtitle addons if you're so inclined. They definitely helped out with Apocalypto :hanging:
