New Burr was good, but the repeats from his last special were a little strange. On his podcast he says he never watches his specials after he edits them so I don't even think he realized it. Still really good, but not great.

do a lot of people watch in subtitles these days?Philpenn wrote:Halfway through The OA. Quick question, is any of the Russian dialog from the flashbacks important? Watching sans Netflix, and there be no subtitles.

Like when you're watching in a language you don't know?mattkardish wrote:do a lot of people watch in subtitles these days?Philpenn wrote:Halfway through The OA. Quick question, is any of the Russian dialog from the flashbacks important? Watching sans Netflix, and there be no subtitles.
I would hope there would be subtitles.
I agree this can be an issue but I still find myself using the subtitles on certain films that have excessively disparate levels for the music and sound effects versus the dialogue. That is one of many great things about catching a movie in the theater, sounds is almost always perfect. I'm also militant about watching foreign language films in their native language with the subtitles on. I feel like I lose too much when something is dubbed.Bikejoh wrote:Sometimes I feel like subtitles ruin delivery when you know the line is coming

Glad to see they finally added this one. Haven't seen it in years. Looking forward to re-watching it.

Watched this again last night. What a bubble these guys were living in. That "therapist" took full advantage of said bubble...sixstringer wrote:

Mike Birbiglia's Thank God For Jokes is just great.
Rectify...
The final season is drymounting awesome.
Not edge of your seat action, but the acting blew me away.
The unrelenting black cloud that hung over every episode was impressive.
After thinking it was avg for three seasons, I am sad to see it end now.
