I really don't care all that much for Jay Ryan's art, but this is outstanding; beautiful in it's simplicity.

Does anyone know where we can purchase this? I don't see it on the bird machine's site.

Thanks!

FOR those of you familiar with Richard Goodall Gallery, you are probably already familiar with renowned Chicago based screen-print artist Jay Ryan.

His quirky, humorous, vacant-eyed cartoonish images have been a regular and popular feature at the gallery since 2004, while for music-lovers Jay Ryan's images are likely to be equally familar.

The artist has produced hundreds of tour posters for bands like Rocket from the Crypt, Pearl Jam and Arctic Monkeys, having begun hand drawing and screen-printing in 1995, working for Screwball Press, and going on to launch his own silkscreen printshop in 1998 – The Bird Machine, in Chicago.

But now the artist is set to take a further step into the mainstream, having teamed up with World Class Service Ltd to produce a series of exclusive prints and a very limited edition programme for the forthcoming UK tour of The Blue Planet Live! – based on the award-winning BBC documentary The Blue Planet.

World Class Service Ltd hand-picked Ryan, and met up with him during a flying visit to Manchester last week, quite an accolade for the understated Chicago star.

The Blue Planet series was created in 2001, has been sold to more than 140 countries and has won countless awards. The live show, featuring thought provoking music has been similarly highly acclaimed.

Jay Ryan said, “I'm excited to be involved in helping to bring together some portion of The Blue Planet Live! event. I hope to capture the vitality of the aquatic life covered in the show through the pictures of the animals which I am working on. This amazing combination of film and live music performance will add a totally new aspect to the Blue Planet series.”

Jay Ryan's work is currently on display in Manchester as part of a joint exhibition with his wife, Diana Sudyka, at Richard Goodall Gallery: Underground.

All posters created for The Blue Planet Live! will be available to buy from the gallery or online at www.richardgoodallgallery.com. The very limited edition tour programme will only be available at the shows or via www.theblueplanetlive.com

World Class Service Ltd. presents The Blue Planet Live! across the UK throughout April 2008 and will appear at Manchester Central, on Sunday 20 April.

You have to send them an email asking if it's available--though right now you'll get an automated response, as they're away, but they say they'll respond to emails left in the order they were received.

Go to their site and you'll find info on where to send questions about poster availability.
