That Damad album rules, as does everything they released. Legendary pre-Kylesa doom.Stingers wrote:Baizley interview with him talking about 6 influential (and awesome) album covers . . . http://stereogum.com/1077682/baronesss- ... ers/photo/
Thanks for those awesome interviews guys, made for great reading...
Bloody oath pathways! Am absolutely with you on this, it's actually what I love most about Baizley's work & other artists of similar ilk, such as D'andrea & Roper. It isn't perfect & has flaws which gives it a human quality & most definitely a soulful feel, one were you can sense & relate to the artist's labour. It's certainly much different & not what I get from an artist like Horkey or even a Geddes too... As much as I love both of these gents, they're just from another planet, their work is unparalleled & on such a whole different level but almost too good! For all their technical precision, intricate detail & execution, for mine, a lot of their pieces can feel somewhat cold, sterile & distant. And that could indeed be the whole point... Anyways, not sure I had any real point either, just wanted to agree & thank you again for throwing up those links, cheers!by pathways on Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:46 pm
I'm probably in the minority on this one, but it doesn't bother me a bit. I heard/read somewhere a long time ago, and I wish I could remember but it said, that when he draws it, that's it. I'm sure he sketches it out and gets an idea for the piece but I don't know how often he actually goes back and erases. I just think it's a part of his process and growth. I'm gonna look for the article later.
I finally gave it a listen last night, and now I'm doubly excited about the print release.pathways wrote:I think so too. I bought the cd for the art and ended up enjoying the fudge out of it.shivashakti wrote:The kvelertak album is awesome IMO, and their live set is phenomenal.Aphex139 wrote:Kind of a tangent, but is the album any good? It magically appeared on my CD stand one day and I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
