Man, it's a shame we lost the old "covers" thread ... lots of good ones in there.

I posted both Aerosmith Train Kept a Rollin and The Clash Police and Theives in that one ...

Pretty sure I posted this as well ...

Cover ...

Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide

Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls (Payback for the Hurt haters!)

Ministry - Lay Lady Lay (More Dylan pile-on)

Gary Jules - Mad World

Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
Say what you will, this is the much better version.

It doesn't slay but I prefer the Jose Gonzales - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Somebody mentioned before about Me First and the Gimme Gimmes being a great cover band, on the flipside of that I suggest checking out Nouvelle Vague.

This might be blasphemous, but I prefer Sid Vicious' version of My Way. Sinatra's is a classic, but I like the energy that Sid brought to it more than the dignity Sinatra brought to it.

Dear anybody, please do a badass print of Rian Johnson's Brick. If necessary, I'll buy them all.

This one if only because it's done 100% on kids toys/instruments and no actual instruments are used. As was the entire album which is amazing and probably about 10 years ahead of it's time. :notworthy:

You've got to be drymounting kidding me. I wouldn't describe myself as a Commodores or Lionel Ritchie fan but that's a great song and FNM hardly did anything to change it... except get rid of the whole drymounting 2nd verse and the bridge!! The drymounting lairy bastards.

Edit: now FNM's cover of War Pigs live is something I can get behind.

I nominate this one

I would say Faith No More's "I Started A Joke" is also superior. Still ridiculous, but superior.

Elliott Smith & Mary Lou Lord's version of Ween's Birthday Boy though I love both.....

Buddy & Meiko's version of Milkshake isn't even in the same world as the original. I had a hard time finding a good version of it, but this isn't bad.

I love and treasure individuals as I meet them, I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to.
