I haven't been to the movies in over three years, I have had enough with people having sex in theaters, talking all the time and playing with their phones every time I go to the 42nd street theaters. I don't miss it one bit. The drafthouse is going to have their hands full because a lot of movie goers don't take " rules " kindly, but yes I can't wait until they open up next year.Bickel wrote:I'm the same way - theaters in Manhattan are ridiculous these days, I'm impatiently waiting for the Alamo to show up.rubberneck wrote:Having to deal with the loud assholes either narrating or questioning the plot, the 'knowing' cinephiles who must laugh out loud at every reference to show their intelligence, I-phones, seat kickers, loud eaters and the latest prices for everything, I either try to do the off peak showing (where I really wanna see it on the big screen) or just wait until I can watch it in the privacy of my own home...qtully wrote:Sometimes it's just fun to go out to the movies with some friends or a cute girl. In all honesty I would rather watch a movie at home.karza wrote:Then why bother seeing them in the theater and not just see them on your TV at home? serious question
I prefer the movies I see at the theater to be ones that benefit from the large screen, surround sound, 3d if available.
Off to shout at the kids on my lawn now...

It's not quite as bad in Canada, but occasionally there'll be some real troglodytes who need to be hung from their feet above the audience with duct tape around their mouths.

we were talking about this the other day.
You guys in Texas have been really lucky to have grown up around this. Even Tim's David vs Goliath speech at Cinemacon shows what a leader you guys have. Unfortunately, NY is built around corporate theaters and corporate theaters tend to people who don't give a fudge about the theater experience. I'm really curious to see how Alamo handles New York.

Wow! I was excited about Dragonslayer and thought I'd missed out, but was able to score it after the tweet. This morning's drop was nice... oh, and I 3D! Did anyone catch the 3D rerelease of The Nightmare Before Christmas? Probably the best 3D I've seen. It added a lot to the movie imho.
