Holy crap! That's so awesome. Looks like I'm gonna need my first two-sided frame!

...and the "pick any Decoder Ring fancy art print" from talkingdeads. Which he had Sudyka paint on for us. It's insane.

After that I said I'd never enter any more contests. Then I entered this one, thinking I'd never win, and lo and behold. I'm officially out now! Guess I should transition to lottery tickets.

I guess I'm unfamiliar with these. Does the cover you get actually say Laminate Most Wanted on it?

And thanks for the heads up sal.

Yeah, I assume all that text is on the cover. I haven't seen the inside of the magazine, but for their prints, they brand their name on the border of their prints in a tacky comic-sans-esque font. I'm not too interested in the magazine, but I'm shying away from their prints.

The Berens image (Venice?) that is featured in your post, Sal, is mesmerizing. I've been looking at it for a few minutes now, and can say that it may well be my favorite painting by Chris.

the name of the painting is "Storm Raging through Oudezijdskolk", from his Amsterdam show.. I was lucky to see this one in person, and I agree - it's one of his greatest pieces.. it has such depth, and dynamic, you can almost feel the breeze of the gigantic incoming wave...

Jaski gallery had 3 new paintings by Chris Berens @ PAN fair in Amsterdam:

Image
Hum (80x80cm)

Image
Sovereign Still (145x136cm)

Image
Diaspora (148x111cm)

as far as I know, only Diaspora might still be available... with it's depth, richness of character, contrast between murky underwater, and lighter sky, it's a great example of his work and his incredible imagination.. Hum is a much more simple, yet beautiful image, kind of reminding me of The Kiss, and it was sold very quick... Sovereign Still is a majestic piece showing all that is great about Chirs' art and his unique technique - from smoke blowing monkeys in the sky, to typical Amsterdam houses with recognizable house/family signs, his "signature" polar bears, hedgehogs, dolphins, mist, and blur..
