I've recently purchased my "Holy Grail" Image however it was damaged when it arrived. I bought it on e-bay and had the seller take out insurance. However I'm not sure if insurance will pay ( i think damage was do to bad packaging) 20 inch poster stuffed in a 22 inch tube with no end-caps only tapped closed, then put in a box. I've contacted the seller and sent him pictures. I have no experience with trying to collect insurance and would appreciate any feedback on this process. Will the pay the entire amount? or will they asses how much monetary value is lost? The poster was sent from Germany so I don't even know how to go about collecting. I hope the seller will do that for me. I would also appreciate any opinions as to how much value this print has lost do to damage. Any advice would be welcome.

Do exactly what you have been doing, take LOTS of pictures. Have you heard anything back from the seller? I don't think you can claim insurance damage on this unless the packaging was damaged, and this cause the damage to the print.

The seller should take full responsibility for not packing this correctly. If they don't, you may have to go with a Paypal claim. That sucks dude!

ebay/paypal will take care of you and get you a full refund. If you're wanting to keep the poster still you might be able to work out a poster + cashback option with the buyer.
Sorry about your luck

I feel for you, man. I received a postal-gorilla-damaged grail several weeks ago. It doesn't matter so much that I got the refund as it does that, having snagged it from good peeps for a reasonable price, the exhilaration of harpooning the white whale has turned to darkness. The good news is that there's always something else out there around the corner to ease the pain. Hang in there!

It looks like all of the damage was to the edges and the white margin around the actual image correct? If the image area is good you may be able to get a discount and keep your holy grail. Those edges will frame out no problem...they can even be pressed flat under low heat to minimize to damage. Any decent framer should be able to do that no problem! Sucks but you could come out okay.

I hope i can get a full refund through ebay/paypal. Having seen this poster only makes me want it more. it is truly an amazing print, the pictures online don't really do it justice. It is very vibrant in person. However if I was to keep it all I would see is the flaws. I'm not exaggerating when I say "I felt truly sick" when i saw the crime committed on this poster. Thanks for all your support, only fellow beaners could understand how I feel.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. You will get your money back.

Just open a case on EBay if he does not offer you a full refund if you return it. You must pay return shipping.

Item arrived not as described. Forget about insurance claims, the is the sellers job to deal with.

If the seller has not offered you a full refund already, then you need to open a case ASAP.

You should still be nice and help him get his claim money though, because he will take a major hit.
