why do people buy condos

Beats me. They say they have no yard to maintain, but would you want to live with peeps sharing your outer walls?

Because you don't have to worry about plumbing, roofing, or ac/heating. Condos are good starter homes. Very little responsibility. All you have to do is pay an HOA fee of like $150 a month which includes housing insurance. Most big condos have pools, gyms, libraries, etc. Plus...electric bills are cheaper to warm and cool your house.

The only disadvantages to a condo I could think of is no backyard (I don't want a backyard), and the fact that people are on either side of you and above/below you. Nice condos have thick walls between units so you really don't hear your neighbors unless they are just drymounting crazy.

I have never seen an HOA fee of $150 at least not in Chicago or surrounding area, I also think per sq ft they are overpriced

I've lived in Boulder, Miami and Denver over the past 10 years. I almost moved to LA, London or Austin at one point but Denver is such a hard town to leave. It gets it's hooks in you. People are good here and I've never met anyone here who doesn't like living here. It's just a really positive place. Last year I bought a house and started a creative studio and this year I had my first kid. So I am here to stay for a while. And I've got no regrets.

I think the most I saw was $250. The complex I was looking at was $157. I am also not living in the 'rich' part of town.

It's crazy that 3 miles away a condo that was $90k is now in the 'it' part of town and it costs $140k.

Per square foot they are definitely over priced but I can't afford a $160-200k house right now and I don't want a 'fixer upper'.

Terminal A ain't got much (Quiznos, some sandwich shop). Terminal-B is where it's at. Kinda.

congrts, man. I tried to move to Denver in '99, but it didn't enchant me and I rolled back to the east coast. Capitol Hill is a nice neighborhood, IMO. that's where I was looking.
