mfaith wrote:Love the new html5video tag. But has anyone figured out how to use it with youtube? The youtube tag is just a shortcut for the flash tag, and flash as a web technology is being phased out. My phone won't even load any videos on here anymore when flash/youtube tag is used. Youtube's website even uses html5 now for their videos, so I think it should be doable. Any suggestions?

I'll try and have a look when I get back from Thought Bubble. The youtube tag code should be updateable to work with html5. I seem to remember trying before and hitting an issue with the sites style files being out of date causing an issue with the iframe. Will have another go.

Thanks dude.

1nkling: This may become a more pressing issue. Just started seeing this turn up on embedded youtube videos here. May need to seriously look into moving youtube embedding to html5

This post from last week suggests a solution which has updated style definitions: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... #p14502556

That works. Everyone just needs to break the habit of using the flash tags and using the youtube one instead now. The flash one will throw up that deprecated message.

Haha, i know about youtube. I just always found the old version kind of small, and not well-fit for widescreen vids. Looks like 1nkling's corrected that now too. :pint:

Just used the fix you'd linked to. I'd been trying to figure out what I needed to put into the bbcode to get that working. The sites style fixed are out of date and not responsive so shoehorning it into the site css would probably have broken more things. Luckily that guy did the legwork for us.
