Is there any way to embed non-Youtube vids without using the Flash brackets? Android phones no longer support Flash, so it's totally redundant for me.
I have no problem pasting/displaying Youtube videos (using Youtube brackets), but everything else doesn't show and it pisses me off. :cussing:

Anybody know how to embed nhl.com videos? This would be nice with the upcoming season.

Here's an example page with a video http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=732961

Looks like this is the link for the video, I've tried a bunch of different things, can't get anything to work "http://e1.cdnl3.neulion.com/nhlvc/player/videocenter/player/nhlvc.swf?v=20140924"

What do we do with new URLs?

https://youtu.be/n9q1CXdqtXM

Edit: nevermind, if you click that link, the actual YouTube url is the standard one that's easily workable per SOP.

is the flash= the only way to do this still? Or have there been any updates? Seems that most youtube videos are now widescreen instead of the old format.

The youtube tag works.

Code: Select all

You can also use the html5video tags for some non-youtube vids. For example Photobucket

Code: Select all
[html5video=mp4]http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp348/Millman48/Air%20Search/008.mp4[/html5video]

(You have to add the video file type, in this case mp4, to the end of the tag after the equals sign.)

Love the new html5video tag. But has anyone figured out how to use it with youtube? The youtube tag is just a shortcut for the flash tag, and flash as a web technology is being phased out. My phone won't even load any videos on here anymore when flash/youtube tag is used. Youtube's website even uses html5 now for their videos, so I think it should be doable. Any suggestions?

I'll try and have a look when I get back from Thought Bubble. The youtube tag code should be updateable to work with html5. I seem to remember trying before and hitting an issue with the sites style files being out of date causing an issue with the iframe. Will have another go.
