beta looks strikingly similar to the old skin of the forum. it's almost as if I'm still using the old version.

These graphs are kinda nice. Any chance the new site will fix the issues with average prices?

Short answer NO, long answer N-O. Its like the underwear gnomes are doing the site update.

Ha, just now caught up with the last couple pages. It'd be cool to have averages that aren't stuck in 2016. But it'd be even cooler to have an update on how things are going.

This is by no means an official update, but I'll gladly share with you what I know at this point. So, an early cut of the new site (let's call it an alpha version) was made available to staff to review and provide feedback on. We did that and created a rather detailed (and non-trivial) list of adjustments we wanted to have made. I'm sure they're working hard to incorporate a good portion of those adjustments before rolling it out to a larger beta audience. So I guess all I'd say is hang in there. It's very close to being ready, and I think you guys'll dig it. But yeah, I'll see if Yamar can drop in and give a more official update with more info. Appreciate all of you guys' patience.

Well... to start, you're right - this is long overdue.
I can make excuses, starting with the my day job has been hounding me more than in the past and that most of my onsite time has been tied in approvals for the database (although that is more of a re-direction since I should take the time to be here as well). But the biggest truth is that there were/are/have been delays on the development end that while they may be somewhat frustrating to y'all as the general public/members/usership of the site, it's many times that for me. Being the one to ask for donations, try and head the push and changes, and then have to hear news of delays is one of the least fun things I've had to deal with in the life of EB.

The two main sources of the delay in release are that:
-The project lost it's main designer about mid December. This pushed things back significantly, both due to needing to find a new body to fill that role but also to give them time to get up to speed on what had been done and where things were going. This is the majority of the time delay.
-The data migration process (transferring over all the various info points for the 250,000+ entries in EB's database) has taken longer than expected - both labor and time intensive.

As mfaith has also said, the Board has seen several points of development, the last of which was then passed on to the site Team as well for feedback. Changes/details suggested by several staff were handed to the design team to work with and factor in. We're expecting another update point in the next week or so and are HOPING to get the public beta out there in early April. Yes, this is significantly behind where we wanted to be. In truth, the site leadership end of things being volunteers actually does NOT really play into any of these delays -- this was all on the developing firm's end and has been frustrating on many levels. But the light at the end of the tunnel is in view, at least from where I sit.
