With the recent talk about director Yorgos Lanthimos in the What are you watching......RIGHT NOW!!! thread, his new film, THE FAVORITE, looks just as brilliant as his last 2 films: THE LOBSTER and THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER

AQUAMAN and SHAZAM! trailers dropped yesterday. I'll see them but I'm still not sold on either yet.

Also, GODZILLA 2 trailer has me intrigued:

^^looks good. I love Nick Kroll comedically but I think I'm going to have real trouble taking him seriously in this type of role. We shall see.

Has been said about most actors coming from a comedy background, some don't quite translate but plenty work just fine.

Comedy encompasses all things.

I like seeing comedians go outside their genre, especially in a dramatic role. Just look at Robin Williams in INSOMNIA and ONE HOUR PHOTO.

Not sure if there's anyone here who's a fan, but a new Evangelion movie teaser went up today- comes out in 2020 (I hope)...

I hear you. I LOVE the Kroll Show. He's done so many great characters, he's one of those actors that just plain cracks me up. But the subject matter is about as serious as it gets. I'm just skeptical. Likewise with say if Will Ferrel did a dramatic role, it would be tough for me to take him seriously. Unlike a comedic actor such as Steve Carell (for ex), who despite having the ability to be hilarious can also really tug at those heart strings. I hope to be proven wrong.

Was just using it as an example, similar to you using Steve Carrel (great example by the way)
