Question to Nolan regarding third films being the weakest & looking to other trilogies for inspiration:
"I will cop to this: The Lord of the Rings trilogy was in the back of our minds the entire time we were making these."

I was talking about this with a friend of mine sometime last week. No so much two specific trilogies, but trilogies in general. The only one I could really think of where the third movie was the best of the three was the Bourne trilogy (which actually got better with each installment, which is something that's just unheard of with other trilogies) and LotR (and this one's debatable, as I've seen folks who greatly prefer Fellowship or Towers to Return).

And while I'm one of those weirdos who likes Return of the Jedi the best, I will concede that Empire and New Hope are better movies.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Toy Story 3, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban are the best in their respective series IMO. I also think one could argue Mission Impossible 3 and Die Hard with a Vengeance as well, though I recognize I would be in the minority on the latter.

I think it'll be really difficult to top TDK, but that's ok. Being on par with Batman Begins would still make it a fantastic movie.

Now that the embargo has been lifted, I am very encouraged by the first wave of reviews. It seems to be pretty much universally loved.

Because it's the print we deserve, but not the one we need right now. So we'll hunt it.

Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet.

Watched the screening this afternoon. It was really good, but at 2 hour 45 minutes, it was wayyyy too long. There were some scenes that could easily have been shortened.

That's a pretty cool key ring. Any idea where I could find one to purchase?

No idea, sorry. It's not very functional, I imagine it would stab you and scratch up anything in its vicinity if you put it in your pocket.

Did you have any trouble understanding Bane? At times I felt like I needed subtitles.

saw it last night in Imax @ Lincoln Ctr w/ the GF
we both liked it, but both felt they could have cut 20 or so minutes from the film to tighten it up
that being said it was a fitting conclusion to a great trilogy :pint:
