Shame. I enjoyed Source Code and especially Moon. Reviews for Mute have been so terrible and I am sure I can find it in me to sit through it.

I hope you decided to take that nap.

Indeed, nap I did. But watched Mute the next day. Yikes.

Yeah man. Just watched. Not bad at all. Especially for some budget Canadian fudge.

I haven't seen any of the Adam Sandler/Netflix movies but this looks decent. Has anyone seen any of his other Netflix works? If so, are any of them worth checking out?

Giggled way too much at The Joel McHale Show- really enjoyed it (but I was a Talk Soup fan from the beginning).

Netflix Eyeing Total of About 700 Original Series in 2018
http://variety.com/2018/digital/news/ne ... 202711940/
Netflix, set to spend upwards of $8 billion on content in 2018, will have in the neighborhood of 700 original TV shows on the service worldwide this year, according to CFO David Wells.

Looks like it could be a quantity over quality thing if some of their recent 'original content' releases are anything to go by. There's been a few stinkers in recent months - bright and mute are two that immediately spring to mind. altered carbon was average at best too.

^ Maybe but a lot of people liked Bright, regardless of critics reviews. They also have some amazing gems, and the term "original" is slightly misleading. Like "On Body and Soul" is a Netflix original movie but all they did was acquire the NA distribution rights after it was made/at fests. It's a best foreign film Oscar nom, a Netflix original, but not like they financed the production of it or anything. They definitely have far more hits than stinkers, all 'studios'/distributors will have stinkers so you might as well look at Netflix the same way as that's basically their model, just swap out "views/subscribers" for "box office".

THE OUTSIDER

I would definitely say this is one of Netflix better movies. In 1954, former US soldier Jared Leto joins a yakuza. The story centers on a rival gang that is at odds with Leto's gang over who controls certain territories in post-World War II Japan. The tension of the war is still very much alive between this American and the Japanese. Leto gives a good performance and at times, even being the main star, doesn't have a lot of dialogue (which is even pointed out by a former soldier he was in the service with that he happens to come across one night). Kind of reminded me of Meiko Kaji during her FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series from the 1970's where her actions, facial expressions and eyes do her talking for her. A solid film in my opinion. 7/10

I really liked The Meyerowitz Stories. Probably the best thing he's done since Punch-Drunk Love.

Not Netflix, but I binged both seasons of Sneaky Pete from Amazon this week while down with a cold and both seasons were original and left me wanting more. Really enjoyed.
