Yeah, LA Confidential really stood out at the time. Great breakthrough into the US market for Crowe and Pearce, they've been working in Hollywood ever since.

6 degrees trivia time: I grew up in a town about 80 minutes from Melbourne, a guy my Sister dated moved to Hollywood and dated Kim Bassinger (she bought him a Harley and he ran "Peanuts" a great club in the 90s at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd that housed nights like Bordello (Rikki Rachman). I had a great time there hanging out in '91. Got to see Danzig do an acoustic set on Halloween night. It's now a Lesbian Strip club "Voyeur" famous for the republican GOP scandal).

Alejandro Jodorowsky's stuff! Mainly El Topo and Santa Sangre. They're bugfuck crazy.

Dear anybody, please do a badass print of Rian Johnson's Brick. If necessary, I'll buy them all.

Tight spy action thriller from Soderbergh. Great ensemble cast, the action is blunt, realistic and brutal. Cinematography is a big stand out, as is the quietness of the film. I enjoyed it far better than MI: Ghost Protocol. 7/10

For those of you who haven't seen it - do yourself a favour and check it out. One of the best films. It's a joke that Titanic got all the Oscar glory instead of this film in 1997. (Déjà vu with forrest gump and pulp fiction in 1994).

HUGE, HUGE fan of this film..definitely in my top 20..so many good performances here
also enjoy Curtis Hanson's(The Director) follow-up..The Wonder Boys(Michael Chabon Novel) which, like LA Confidential boasts a killer cast

Ever go to rewatch a film, only to realise you've never seen it? Bizarre, and ironic that it was this film. I loved the comic Eightball as a teen back in the 90's. This captured the weirdness of it nicely - not everyone's cup of tea. Lynchian at times - 7/10

Hadn't seen it in about 20 years, still a great slow and methodical film. If you haven't seen it before, watch out for spoilers and don't watch the American remake until you've seen this one. 7.5/10

Really enjoyed this. Cynical as hell and damn funny. Great Billy Wilder flick.

Finally this film gets a US release playing at a few cities - NY, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago - so if you're in one of those cities check it out. A great little Aussie horror film. Highly recommended. http://www.thelovedonesmovie.com/
