Saaaaaaaaame

i liked it more than i was expecting to.

was surprised it actually had a very potent emotional message about growing up and growing apart.

wont make my top 10.

man yall are pressuring me hard to watch paddington 1 and 2. im going to wait for rambo's obligatory post on it after we have mentioned it 3 times in one page.

didn't mind the message. liked it, actually. just hated the way the movie played it. made it's only real case for existing into a total afterthought, IMO

Not out til January for me so will be on next years list.

Yeah, unfortunately, there are a few key films that we won't see till next year - Eighth Grade, If Beale Street Could Talk, Blindspotting, Burning, The Tale...

Eighth Grade is great. Really stunning stuff. Pretty devastating in a lot of ways. Elsie Fisher is really great too.

The Tale is on Foxtel - if you're talking the Laura Dern film, right?

Blindspotting - afaik - is going straight to dvd, same way First Reformed did. Could be wrong though.

Your life is incomplete without Paddington 2.

In turn, you should watch Paddington so you can say, ah, that's sweet, and then feel the wave of brilliance that is Paddington 2 wash over you.

I've said this before, I'll say it again - no Paul King, no point in doing Paddington 3.

As he should. As everyone should. We should all worship the altar of Paddington.

The Tale was pretty rough. The movie was intense I thought, but the story was told so well, the way it unraveled, the realizations. The story moves so smoothly. Some of those 'grooming' scenes were pretty disturbing.

Finally got my MoviePass working (yeah, it's still in business) and was able to see THE FAVOURITE last night. I really did enjoy it. Thought Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman gave brilliant performances and it was refreshing to see Stone in a villianess role for a change. In terms of director Yorgos Lanthimos' work, this is up there with THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER as my personal favorite but still having difficulty deciding between the two. I look forward to a second viewing and I do recommend it!

Just noticed THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT is on VOD. L.V.T. is hit or miss for me but this one looks intriguing. I'd prefer to wait for the Directors Cut but it sounds like that could be a while due to some MPAA shenanigans.

i'm hearing that if you rent it from Canada itunes it includes both versions. If you're in the US, i have no idea to rent from a different region. otherwise, it looks like the director's cut blu ray will be out in March in the UK

The Mule was pretty good . . . no need to rush to the theater to see it, would be just as good to watch at home when it gets to VOD or even cable. But I liked it better than Gran Torino if that says anything, I don't know. Clint Eastwood plays sort of himself which boils down to a very likable guy who's actually a pretty selfish asshole at heart, but he knows it.
