curious to get this crowd's take on this series but I found it to be very well done. It did it's best not to glorify suicide and the characters were all believable. tearjerker for sure

I'm about halfway though it and knew nothing about the book before I started watching. The subject matter is heavy and dark but so is suicide and in that regard i'm glad the show doesn't pull any punches in dealing with it. It's a winner and i'm looking forward to finishing it this weekend

How on earth does it take the guy an entire lifetime to listen to 13 cassettes?
It's a bit better than Beverly Hills 90210.

I'll preface this by saying that I have lost a few close friends to suicide. It is extremely hard for a show/movie to portray the loss of someone to suicide in a believable fashion. Yes there were some weird things about the show, for example half the high school is all tatted up. I think the show did a phenomenal job of making the viewer really feel the loss of Hannah, make you wish desperately you could help her. Yes the story has a somewhat odd premise with the tapes and all, but I think they nailed the emotions. Lastly, Hannah's suicide in the tub scene, was the single most powerful/painful to watch thing I have ever watched in my life, and there is no way I could ever watch it again, it literally took my breath away.

It got increasingly frustrating and annoying as it went on. Should have been 3 reasons why and done with it!

I lost interest soon after the second episode. Figured the boy was mentally challenged and was in school for slow kids, turns out I was right.

This.

I just got done watching this. I never read the book but a lot of people i know read it when I was in High School. From what I hear the show is way more graphic and intense than the book was. This show was literally one of the heaviest and most depressing things I ever watched. I loved all the characters and thought their performances were great. Also, the show has a very real feel to it which makes it so much more intense. And yeah lastly the suicide scene was so intense and realistic I had to look away. Crazy.

My wife and I where yelling this at the screen everytime main dude asked Fez "What happens next?". Just play the tapes and find out. I know they had to get it all angsty and stretch it to 13 shows, but come on.
