I read that as he didn't want to like it but ended up loving it

All I want is a solid, grungy fun Star Wars adventure and it looks exactly like that

I'm not surprised. Ron Howard is a competent filmmaker. Looking forward to it.

Seeing it today. Hoping for the best, but keeping my expectations (wait for it) SO LOW. I'll admit, the excitement of seeing a new "Star Wars" film has crept in.

Going in blind - haven't seen a trailer or anything. Alden Ehrenreich looks a little goofy for the part. Doesn't help that he played that silly cowboy actor in Hail, Caesar. Sounds like folks are mad they didn't cast Anthony Ingruber. I'm not sure how good of an actor he is, but he nails this Harrison Ford impersonation:

Sorry guys, I don't have anything nice to say about this one...

ccsmd, it didn't even register on the fun-ometer, unfortunately. I found it difficult to slog through.

Overheard in the restroom after the movie: "I'm not taking the kids to that. They're gonna have to wait for redbox."

Would it have been any better with Anthony Ingruber? So far most of what i've heard is how bad Alden's Harrison Ford impersonation is but curious if the story is a fail as well.

It would've been better with a different script, story, better effects, way less fan service and yes, a different Solo. It felt like product. Unenjoyable product. I've never heard a crowd so quiet during a Star Wars film and it wasn't because of suspense.

I'm sure others will have fun with it and gobble up the fan service, but I just wasn't feeling it.

Going to see Solo at 7 in IMAX, pretty excited. I've got my expectations in check, as long as I get a solid SW story I'll be happy.
