just picked up a nearly complete, all NM/M run of the Epic comics issues on the 'bay - just missing the last 4 or 5 issues. Pretty psyched to have them in that format.

may pick up that HC boxed set to replace my phone books . . .

Good article from last year:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2016-03-17/akira-in-color-with-steve-oliff/.99830

Akira in Color with Steve Oliff

...when AKIRA was first published in English by Marvel's EPIC imprint in 1988, there were only a handful of Japanese manga titles published in English. As Kodansha editor Yasumasa Shimizu mentioned at NYCC 2015, Otomo wanted to reach as many readers as possible. So with this in mind, two things were done to make AKIRA more accessible to western comics readers: the pages were flopped to read from right-to-left, and the pages were colored. The artwork was carefully flipped. and in some cases re-drawn by Otomo and his assistants, but as for the color, that was a job for award-winning comics colorist Steve Oliff.

Yeah - just a single run. There was a massive gap in printing the last 5 or so, so they can be a real bitch to track down. I've seen issue 38 sell for as much as i got the full set.

Different images on some pages too - as it was serialised, some pages have characters posed differently or more dynamic visuals so as to make you want to get the next issue. They were toned down/reworked for the graphic novels

http://halcyonrealms.com/animation/otomo-global-tribute-mind-behind-akira-art-book-review/

A stunning art book filled with equally amazing illustrations, and a worthy tribute to one of the greatest comic artists of our times. My highest recommendations.

Note : There is also a Japanese edition available with a slightly different page count ( 172 as compared to this book’s 168 ), but the contents should be largely similar.

“”Otomo – A Global Tribute To The Mind Behind Akira” art book details :

– Dimensions – 10.7 x 0.9 x 12.4 inches
– Hardcover, 168 pages.
– Full color, in English language

Got my mind blown this week.

Christopher Skinner sent me a surprise gift - a super-rare test print of 'Highway 26' on metal. :jawdropper:

So drymounting awesome, can't wait to frame it. Gonna float it between 2 sheets of glass in a metal frame. :pint:

Thanks Chris! :notworthy:

Hey everyone. Been a while since i went active.
All sorts of life fudge in the way:

Otomochaser is having an Otomokid! :pint:

Hopefully not a prematurely-aged one or anything with uncontrollable psychic talents.....but i'll take whatever i get.

Having a kid makes one consider one's priorities.

Case in point : I NEEEEED the Akira pin set from the Akira boxset about to come out. So i'm pilfering $30 and shipping from lil Kaneda/Kaori's college fund to get the important stuff sorted.

Hit me up if you'd be willing to let those beauties go. They'll be treasured forever. Thanks for looking
