The Official Horror Movie Thread

Film flames, episode episodes. Post lifetime is 1 year.

I want to start a running thread about great horror films that you have watched and want to share with the rest of the community. I know the genre has been in the toilet especially for the past couple of years but there are still some gems out there new and old. I will get this thing going.

I saw a trailer for The Poughkeepsie Tapes once. I thought it looked kinda creepy, and then I never heard about it again.

My personal favorite for the last couple of years.

It is gritty as drymount and it is pretty got damn fantastic. It is probably my favorite found footage flick. It is really hard to track down and I don't think it was ever released on DVD. If you're interested in watching it, you can shoot me a pm.

I personally thought kill list was just ok. Not that I really disliked the film so much as I felt it didn't live up to all the hype but I do believe Ben Wheatley is someone to keep an eye on and his new flick looks pretty good.

Saw it at a preview screening a couple months back and thought it was great. If you're into black comedy, you'll have a ball.

I'll shoot you a PM for the Tapes eventually, but I'm not really feeling a horror flick right now.

Idk if anyone's heard of it but "your next" I believed it is called. I saw a trailer for it awhile ago on iTunes. It was shown at a indie movie festival somewhere a year ago and heard it was good from slashfilm. Comes out in August in theaters I believe.

Read the reviews if sleep tight and looks like a good film but not for me. Personally probay would stick w me in a bad way like when I made the mistake of watching the human centipede! That movie made me sick in the stomach.

'Martyrs' is absolutely incredible. As is the uncut 'Serbian Film'.
For sheer evil,how about ' August Underground:Mordum' ?
The Untold Story is a fantastic serial killer flick from Hong Kong.
Scrapbook is pretty harsh too.

Check out 'the loved ones' from Australia. Guy turns chick down for prom. Chick is butthurt. Vengeance ensues.
Its a very very good movie, creepy as drymount with a lashing of eeeewwww.

Also 'devils experiment' from the guinea pig saga.
And 'men behind the sun' ,japanese experimentation p.o.w video nasty.
Or 'anatomy of a knife' ,5hrs long drama-doc from russia with cockroach insertion....

The uncut "Serbian Film" is no more incredible than the original NC-17 version of "Murder-Set-Pieces". I love horror movies, but there was nothing entertaining about either of those. Just violence and gore for the sake of violence and gore. It IS possible to be violent, gory and still be entertianing. To each his own. I do agree on "Martyrs" though.

I always wondered what happened with "The Poughkeepsie Tapes". It went the way of "Trick r' Treat" and "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane" as movies that the studio, for whatever reason, did not want to release. The only reason that "Trick r' Treat" ever made it to dvd, and subsequently blu-ray, was due to it's large fan base writing in to WB. I never heard anything else about those other two. Now the market has become saturated with terrible found footage films leaving me a little jaded towards that sub-genre. Would've like to have seen Poughkeepsie back when it was first made.

Serbian Film is far better executed than Murder Set Pieces. And its supposed to be allegorical, though i admit the subtext is poorly explored and obscured by the nastiness. I forget that u guys are in the u.s - in the uk,serbian film was extremely heavily censored, hence my preference for and reference to the uncut above any other.
Its explicit, but never gratuitous for gratuitys sake.just my opinion though. I love the movie.
