Chuck, you're going to read this eventually & may hold it against me & so be it but it needs to be said. YOU sir, are largely responsible for these buyers receiving damaged goods. YOU have the ultimate control of deciding who is going to touching YOUR art. You say it's the house that commissioned your work? Then don't take the $$[yeah, easy for me to say, I know] unless you can be guaranteed your art will be handled w/care & that damages would be far, the exception, & not the rule. As is the case here. As was the case w/Varnish. You then have the responsibility to follow thro' w/that guarantee & have the gallery/distributor prove they know how to package your art from the size & sturdiness of the tube, to the kind of paper used for protection to the way the art is rolled & protected w/in the tube. This is YOUR art, not theirs.
It's too bad all of this discussion happens after the fact. I think after the purchase is made all of us making +1's need to form a more perfect union & go to the distributor w/a reason for concern, past history & game plan to delivery a more perfect product. Good luck everyone. I unfortunately missed out on this. Chuck is my #1 artist so I too will be seeking a copy should any become available.
