Not allowed to mention his name. I have no idea what happens.

I am sure he got more than 1 but if they were going for $850 he would have dumped them all then.

I need to get a crew. Maybe start a prostitute/poster line business.

Gavatron wrote:blame california if you fail celsius :) Paypal host everything there (even foreign services). I get a 140ms ping to the paypal servers from the UK (which is terribad).
USA gets a 100ms headstart on each request sent to their servers

Yeah but you got the tweet faster. Across the pond!
What makes you think that? But even if I did get the tweet say 5 secs beforehand, it doesn't help when it takes paypal 10+ seconds to load.
olly tweets from the UK, tweet hits twitter's local servers first and propagates to the rest of their servers worldwide. granted that goes pretty fast, but still a bit of an edge as the content makes it's way around the world.
I'm going to be honest. I don't think I suck at drops. So I just tested out this paypal is slower in Japan theory.

My sis lives in la. We both timed checking out via paypal at some other sites. Tried two different sites. Timing starts once the add to cart button is pressed. Timing stops once you can click the pay now button after logging in to paypal.

Result 1: For Dan McCarthy's site:

Sis' check out time (Los angeles): 15 secs +/- 1 sec for margin of error.
My check out time: 24 secs +/- 1 sec for margin of error.

Result 2: For posters and toys:

Sis' check out time (los angeles): 20 secs +/- 1 sec for margin of error
My check out time: 32 secs +/- 1 sec for margin of error.

It takes an extra 10 seconds to load paypal from Japan. Keeping in mind my ping/upload/download speed is better than my lil sis'. No way in hell I get Olly's tweets 10 secs before people in the awesome country that is america. Once again, america is too damn awesome. I never stood a fair chance at any of Moss' drops -- nor JC's too. :hanging:

just load up a dos prompt "cmd" and type ping http://www.paypal.com A good ping is 40ms, mine is usually 160-180ms to paypal over in San Jose, CA. So even if the tweets hit the UK first we end up losing a lot of time just waiting for server responses.
No real solution other than hoping paypal do some global hosting or getting someone in cali to poster buddy.

I did win on the totoro ap drop though, so go figure :)

Meanwhile those of us in Australia are doomed...it sucks that Perth is one of the most remote cities on our globe.
