Thanks Rick, just thinking this is one of those defining photographs and the fact it was screened by Chuck who in my opnion along with Emek are the Rock-n-Roll artist of this era. Chuck edges out Emek since he prints his images too.
Tim, Emek and Squirt are my 2 favorites as well......I gotta say Dave Hunter is close behind.....damn does he do some magic with ink!

True. It really makes me wish I had gotten in the Sperry game sooner.

Agree Dave Hunter is killer too; Wish Chuck did more prints of bands I dig! WSP fans are in like Flyn!

I'm sad to say I do some of my best thinking in my sleep...
Something has been lurking in the back of my mind ever since I saw this image... it looked familiar in some way, but I couldn't put a handle on it.
Anyway, last night in my sleep it dawned on me. A couple years ago, Ron Donovan and Zoltron were 'experimenting' with using coffee stain on some posters (e.g., Z's Raging Bull variant).
I have the following RonDon poster which is what squirt's Joe Strummer reminds me of so much...
1.RonDon.VanTheMan.jpg
It seems that the ink drop 'treatment' used in the Strummer is an evolution/variation of the coffee stain treatment, or whatever. The net effect for me is very similar.

Oh, did I say I love this Sperry? ... and did I say this looks much more like a Ron Donovan image than a Chuck Sperry image to me?
I always defer to someone who's wearing a beater, regardless of what else he's wearing.

That is an awesome image of Van, the man. Agree with Tim's comment that Chuck is at top of the RnR poster heap.
